- The first SIMPLI-CITY workshop “Business meets Science” took place in the framework of the international congress ITS-Helsinki on the 16th of June 2014.
Experts from science and business discussed future trends of Information Systems with a special focus on Road User Information Apps and services. The interactive workshop included a mixture of presentations and discussions. Nino Zambara from the European Commission pointed out in his key note the strategy of the EU, Daniel Burgstahler from the Technical University of Darmstadt gave an overview about the future trends of Mobility Apps, Sven Abels from the German company Ascora presented prospects and obstacles for App developers, and Freddy Lecue from IBM introduced the successful implementation of STAR-CITY.
In September a workshop webinar will follow in order to present the findings and results to a broader audience.

SIMPLI-CITY Presentation

 - In addition, SIMPLI-CITY's project coordinator Stefan Schulte also presented the project at the Special Interest Session SIS04 as part of the discussion on "Europe-wide service platforms - towards an 'Internet of mobility'" at the international congress ITS-Helsinki. During this session, representatives from the Dutch National Data Warehouse for Traffic Information and the German Mobility Data Marketplace as well as from the European projects MOBiNET, SUPERHUB, Green eMotion, and TEAM discussed with the audience the need for standards and unified solutions for service platforms. Amongst other topics, two particular aspects - which are also in the focus of SIMPLI-CITY's Mobility Services Framework - were highlighted: The need for interoperable markets and the importance to provide benefits to service providers and end users as key factors to make service platforms a success.

Technical Concertation Meeting

 - Last but not least, the MOBiNET and SIMPLI-CITY projects took the chance to have a technical concertation meeting during the congress. During this session, experts from the two projects discussed on possible collaboration in the fields fo data integration and service platforms and planned the next steps.
